Problem: The owner of a small company was being held hostage by her employees. She wasn’t sure what the employment laws were nor which applied to her. She was told by her employees that she must give a certain number of days off per year for holiday and vacation time. Because she was not aware of her responsibilities, she gave in.

Solution: MetaForce educated the owner so she could determine which benefits she wanted to offer as well as ensure that her company was in compliance. To create further clarity within her company, MetaForce created an employee handbook at a fraction of the cost an attorney would charge. Using MetaForce’s standard handbook template, we created a customized employee handbook that laid out all of the company’s policies, including those regarding holidays and vacation time. By beginning with a template, we can create very effective handbooks at a very reasonable cost. Now all of the employees are aware of their benefits, as well as what is expected of them, and what they can expect from the company.

 

Problem: A CEO had major concerns with his call center group. He felt they were unproductive, felt a degree of entitlement, and were not servicing customers to his expectation. Customers were screaming about the lack of service and the customer service group was going through a particularly difficult time. Morale was low, their new computer system was crashing on an hourly basis, while everyone was too busy to answer the constantly ringing phone.

Solution: MetaForce diagnosed the situation by interviewing everyone involved, including executives, managers, employees, and customers. Based on our findings, we provided effective solutions that created long term results. Furthermore we educated his managers and employees through customized training programs. Now the team culture is much more collaborative, performance has improved exponentially and as a whole, the company has moved forward.

 

Problem: A company is having performance issues with its employees. Some employees have not received any solid feedback for months/years, which caused indiscriminate raises based on persuasion, not performance. The owner of the company was ready to throw in the towel because he could not control his spiraling costs.

Solution: After gathering information from the owner and executive team, MetaForce designed a job analysis questionnaire and met with every employee so as to understand the job from the employee’s perspective. From there we created a performance management system to promote a high-performance culture. Furthermore, we taught managers and employees how to use the new review, then ensured follow through by coordinating the review process. Now employees understand what is expected of them and the company is achieving its performance goals.


Problem: The CEO of a young company found herself getting in the middle of many employee issues she felt should have been resolved by her managers. Many of the managers were promoted because they were superstar employees, not excellent managers. They lacked the skills necessary to manage in today’s environment.

Solution: MetaForce met with the owner and listened to her concerns regarding her managers. MetaForce suggested the MetaManager workshop for her managers. The workshop is perfect for new and developing managers as it teaches the skills they need to survive in management today. Through the role-plays and activities, the managers came to understand how they are perceived and their responsibilities in dealing with employee issues before they reach the CEO. Now managers are empowered to handle employee conflict, understand what they can and cannot say, and know how to best coach and counsel employees to high-performance.

 

Problem: The controller of a company is overwhelmed with the HR duties that have been placed on her. She is responsible for all form collection, form creation, and new hire orientation, as well as all of her accounting duties. She is asked daily for this form or that, questions regarding benefits, and information regarding job descriptions.

Solution: Upon speaking with the CEO and the controller, suggested taking take much of the administrative tasks off the controller’s shoulders by implementing a streamlined HR service center on their already existing intranet site. MetaForce changed all existing paper forms into online forms. We contacted all outside vendors, such as health insurance providers, and received online documents of brochures, enrollment forms, and benefits information. Through coordination with the company’s in-house IT, the information was placed on the new HR Service Center. All employees were trained on the HR Service Center, and all new employees receive the information in a new hire orientation program. The controller has more time on her hands to get her work done.
